Book Club
Book Club meets next on Wednesday, May 16th at 7:00. This month’s selection is Snow Falling on Cedars by David Guterson. In 1954, on an island north of Puget Sound, a local fisherman is found suspiciously drowned, and a Japanese American named Kabuo Miyamoto is charged with his murder. In the course of the trial, it becomes clear that more than a man's guilt is at stake. On San Piedro, memory grows as thickly as cedar trees and the fields of ripe strawberries--memories of a charmed love affair, of land desired, paid for, and lost, and of what happened to its Japanese residents during World War II while its neighbors stood by and watched.
